Pura has updated its baby diaper and wipes range in the U.S., introducing changes to diaper fit, leak protection and wipe construction.

The new range was announced in July 2026. According to Nonwovens News, Pura has added a "Blowout Blocker" to its diapers and introduced a stretchier waistband. The diapers continue to use totally chlorine-free (TCF) fibres.

Pura has also changed the construction of its baby wipes, moving from a single-layer material to a three-layer structure.

The update gives diaper buyers and manufacturers a useful look at where brands are putting their attention: not only on absorbency, but also on fit, leakage control and material choice.

What Changed in Pura's New Range

  • New "Blowout Blocker" for additional leakage protection
  • Stretchier diaper waistband
  • Continued use of TCF fibres
  • Baby wipes upgraded from single-layer to three-layer construction

More Attention on Fit and Leakage

Absorbency is usually one of the first specifications considered when sourcing a baby diaper. In practice, however, leakage is also closely related to the way the diaper fits.

Waist elastic, leg cuffs and the shape of the diaper all affect how well it stays in position as a baby moves.

Pura's updated waistband and additional containment feature address this part of diaper performance rather than simply adding more absorbent material.

This is relevant when comparing samples from different diaper suppliers. Two products may have similar weight and absorption figures but behave differently in use because of their elastic systems, leg cuffs or core construction.

Buyer Note: Absorption figures alone do not tell the full story. Waist elastic, leg cuffs, core construction, fit and rewet performance should also be considered when comparing diaper samples.

TCF Fibres Remain Part of Pura's Product Positioning

Pura continues to use totally chlorine-free fibres in the updated diapers.

TCF is not new to the hygiene industry, but consumers are seeing the term more often as baby-care brands provide more information about the materials used in products that remain in contact with a baby's skin for long periods.

Pura also promotes plant-based materials and uses third-party certifications and standards as part of its product positioning.

These features are particularly relevant to the premium baby-care market, where buyers may look beyond basic performance when choosing between products.

This does not mean every diaper needs the same material specification. A diaper developed for a price-sensitive wholesale market will have different requirements from a premium product sold through pharmacies or online stores.

Material selection has to match the target price, market and customer.

A New Three-Layer Structure for Pura Baby Wipes

Pura has made a structural change to its wipes as part of the same product update.

The company has moved from a single-layer wipe to a three-layer construction. Pura says the new structure helps deliver more lotion with each wipe.

For private-label wipes, construction is an important part of the specification alongside fabric weight, dimensions and lotion formulation.

The choice of nonwoven material and structure can affect wet strength, softness, liquid retention and how the wipe feels during use.

These are relatively small details on a technical specification sheet, but they can make a noticeable difference to the finished product.

What Buyers Should Look at When Developing a Private-Label Diaper

The Pura update is a useful reminder that diaper development involves more than choosing a size and absorption level.

Buyers sourcing a new baby diaper range should also consider the absorbent core, topsheet, backsheet, waistband, leg cuffs, elastic performance and overall fit.

  • Absorbent core: SAP and fluff pulp configuration
  • Topsheet: softness and skin-contact performance
  • Backsheet: breathability and leakage protection
  • Waistband: fit and elastic recovery
  • Leg cuffs: side leakage control
  • Materials: selected according to market positioning
  • Packaging: retail format, quantity and private-label requirements

The right combination depends on where the product will be sold.

A distributor supplying a high-volume market may place greater importance on cost and consistent supply. A private-label brand targeting the premium segment may give more weight to softness, selected materials, fit or packaging.

There is rarely one specification that works equally well for every market.
